Building & Public Works: Sustainability’s Influence in Construction Trades.

The meeting aimed to explore sustainability in construction trades, emphasizing the need to blend traditional and innovative approaches, adaptability in trade skills, and the importance of green literacy in training. It also highlighted the diverse interests and goals of students in the construction industry Sustainability encompasses various aspects such as sustainable materials, energy, and has cultural and social dimensions. Traditionally, sustainability was associated with using natural materials and traditional construction methods. Today, it focuses more on longevity, reducing resource use, minimizing the carbon footprint, and promoting clean energy. The meeting emphasized the importance of incorporating discussions on mental health and creating a safe working environment for construction workers, as well as incorporating green literacy skills into learning situations.
