Dear Teacher Hotline, February 5, 2024

6 février 2024

The Dear Teacher Hotline is a segment of the Voc Talk café by Après-cours where we look at a teaching tool and explore some of the features that make it a great learning tools for students. Through a real example of the tool, used by a vocational training teacher, we identify key elements and discuss how to modify it for another trade sector.
In this inaugural episode, we looked at a lesson of the day, which is a tool that a teacher builds from a lesson plan and can help students keep on track to complete the learning of the day. Some of the key approaches to making this document are making it easy-to-use, accessible and useful. It can be customized to encourage student responsibility in learning and get them to contribute to daily activity functions, organisation and teacher support. In our discussion, we explored customizing the document and discussed how simple digital features, such as choice of font, using emojis, and using bulletpoints, can make a big difference in accessibility and focus.

This meeting was on February 5, 2024. It was hosted by Robin Long, Provincial Vocational Training Education Consultant and Marc Vézina, Education Consultant, RÉCIT-Vocational Training, English School Boards.
